Please, anyone who has knowledge on the field, or anyone with advice and tips and such. I want to record my feelings with one of the best mediums available, and share it. Resources and advice in replies is also appreciated. If you want to make music and other forms of arts with me, an inexperienced, unmotivated learner, or if you want to teach me, feel free to contact me.
hiya!! if you want to write & capture your music i'd first choose a workstation based on what you're making: musescore is a fantastic free option for writing sheet music, audacity is a great free recording & editing tool, and if you want to produce or get more technical i'd download a trial for a DAW such as fl studio or ableton and see if you like it
if you're wanting to play an instrument but not too sure how to use it for writing or understanding music, this is one of my absolute favourite videos for a crash course in music theory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgaTLrZGlk0
above all else though i'd just say have fun with it!! composing is very much an experimental process so don't be afraid to try a few things and see what you enjoy or find comfortable; some of my favourite music has come from just messing around at the piano or finding a cool sound by accident. you got this ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ
@glysteneGlystene Thank you sooo much for the help! I'll be learning pretty soon. Got LMMS and Audacity installed. Looking forward to learning more bout composing.
@alkemistaiwee It all depends on what kind of genre you want! because electronic and acoustic ones can be very different, and whether you're familiar with any of the instruments will matter. As said, audacity is great to start, but I use Ableton Live and Logic Pro regularily. Don't hesitate to ask questions!
@willwang22Will Thanks for your advice. Should i study music theory or should i spend more time playing an instrument?(i only have the humble thai flute lol), If I'm looking to combine both acoustic recordings and software synths p.s. Woah, I can't believe that the owner of iM wants to help the likes of me! >w<
@alkemistaiwee music theory starts to make sense if you play instruments and try to improvise / write out of it. From software synths it’s pretty straightforward for a piano roll, there’s midi chord pack and such if you want to start building. Learning some of it definitely helps.
