What's a soul?
Said something kinda stupid about art giving access to the "SOUL" in another thread. It was poor phrasing because I don't really believe in that stuff (so glad society has progressed past the need for religion) but it kinda made me start thinking about "consciousness" as a concept instead, which I do believe in (obviously).
Ummm... do you guys think machines could ever achieve that? Consciousness, soul, whatever you think.

Oh yeah I don't like AI art either. Though I also dislike the idea of some art having "soul" and some art not having it (like I said, I'm not too huge on the idea of the "soul" anyway), because I think that's a slippery slope to reactionary thinking. So I just think AI art is stupid and lazy.
“Consciousness,” sure. But “soul” is so nebulously defined, and I don’t see why it would matter anyway.
@miracleworkerAdamas Say more about your ideas about "consciousness". I'm sure we'd all love to hear it.
And like I said I don't believe in the "soul", I just phrased something poorly. I mostly just wanted to get people talking.
@slaughteredvomitdollSyd Sure. Consciousness is the ability of all of us, as humans, to think and reason. I see no reason why sufficiently advanced AI can’t achieve this.
Although you seem to be more interested in being combative than exercising this ability.

well… if a machine could be conscious, i think ROBO_head is the most likely candidate Ꮚ❛ ꈊ ❛Ꮚ doesnt he act way too human?! either that or he is a human and just pretending to be a robot…
Well, even robots and androids could have a soul. A soul of silicon, but a soul nonetheless...
