Thoughts on the article itself: it’s a very basic introduction to biomolecule chemistry. I don’t know anything about xenobiology or planetary science, so it was interesting to see that perspective on my field. I would like to see an astrobiological take on nucleic acid diversity.
[OOC] My friends and I wanted to see the Yunnan cushion forget-me-not (Chionocharis hookeri) on the alpine screes in Shangri-la. We didn’t get to see it… We got altitude sickness…
@pixel_jelly190pixel_jelly190 [OOC] We’re all fine! And we saw some cool stuff anyway, like an alpine Pinguicula (carnivorous plant) in full flower. If you ever want to go I recommend Shika mountain, it’s an easy downhill hike down the boardwalk from the summit and you can see many beautiful flowers.
@ramtabootino Common names can be misleading. Multiple plants in the family Boraginaceae have the common name “forget-me-not,” while only some are in the genus Myosotis. In fact, Myosotis was recently revised to exclude several species (forming new genera such as Chionocharis).
[OOC] One thing to be careful about when buying lilies is that they’re very toxic to cats! I know we have a lot of NEKO fans here so people should be aware!
@pixel_jelly190pixel_jelly190@ramtabootino [OOC] One non-toxic flower I love to use in food is the violet! Their cultivated relative the pansy is also completely edible and a lovely garnish too.
@pixel_jelly190pixel_jelly190 Tea made from rose petals and many other floral teas have little to no caffeine. They are light and may work better for you.
Rose tea and hibiscus tea are specialties of certain Nodes. Funnily enough, rhododendron honey is also a specialty in certain places, even though it is quite poisonous and can cause hallucinations. Maybe that’s an attraction?
I have pulled all-nighters. It’s not fun. There’s a saying that there are three aspects of college life: academics, social life, and sleep, and you can choose to prioritize two out of the three. I’d say it depends on your scheduling, discipline, and workload.
I’ve met people in college with astonishingly good sleep schedules — one student slept at 9 and woke up at 5, every day — and absolutely terrible ones — all-nighters all the time, assisted by unhealthy amounts of caffeine. It really depends on the person.
@slaughteredvomitdollSyd provided a good summary, as far as my knowledge goes. Like PTSD, VR-PTSD is often comorbid with other conditions like depression and has overlapping symptoms with other brain-related trauma. VR-PTSD is also especially disabling with the modern world's reliance on the virtual internet and the cyTus chip. Individuals with modifications to their cyTus chip's settings or connections can also be more severely impacted by VR-related trauma.
Music may help, but that's not a treatment option available to everyone. I hope further research will provide more ways to support VR-PTSD patients.
Since the SciM hashtag reads as a more general "science on iM" topic, I am also happy to see it used this way.
@ramtabootino Sleeping through the night doesn't prevent me from feeling sleepy during the afternoon, unfortunately. I will try to make some tea tonight.
@aviseapA4per I haven't found any, but maybe @slaughteredvomitdollSyd or @leucinelucy would have more luck. I would guess that physical damage to the chip would be accompanied with trauma to the cyTus implant site of the brain, which would likely cause traumatic brain injury and complications to VR-PTSD treatment.
Nice review. It's interesting to see that some treatment options are the same across PTSD and VR-PTSD, though I can't help but think that parts of the brain other than the amygdala are implicated in PTSD outcomes. Might the location of the cyTus chip in the brain account for the unique interaction between traumatic experiences and the virtual internet?
Music seems to help, doesn't it? Perhaps it's the knowledge that you're sharing the experience of listening to an album with thousands or millions of others who felt the same way. Have you listened to Sporcizia in Bocca by i TiTani? It's an older record. Experimental, but I like it.
@aviseapA4per That's right. I think it's part of the reason taste is often so obscure and unpredictable. Everyone hears something different in the same piece of music... but isn't that another reason to listen along with others?
[OOC] Sorry, was being deliberately goofy with the names there ^^; It's an Italian prog rock record that's actually called Terra in Bocca by i GiGanti. A little more obscure than AC/DC (or DC/DC, as Xenon listens to) so definitely not your fault! As a side note Adamas's music taste is a little different from mine. I'm not sure what music styles you like but I'd be happy to give my own recommendations!
@pixel_jelly190pixel_jelly190 [OOC] I love Mili! Their non-commissioned originals are amazing as well, Ga1ahad and Scientific Witchery is a classic :) my personal favorite is Bathtub Mermaid!
Looking better than usual. Even a utensil this time. The darker bread to contrast the bright colors of the topping works well. But would it hurt you to cook those eggs just a little longer?
Always interesting to find older photos of yourself, huh? Sometimes it feels like a totally different person. Congratulations on 10 years of composing.
Interesting song. It’s repetitive and lacks significant progression, but the synths create a nice soundscape. Fun title, too. The name of a beautiful old garden hybrid rose.
This is a Drums song I particularly like. I enjoy the complex rhythms and soundscape. It seems to take inspiration from cool jazz, like Zakusyo's Food and Musik 2.
(Also, you can edit your first post to add the #sotm tag to it, so it'll show up on filters).
Zakusyo this time. I like his more experimental work, like Inane. This sound is too pop-y and dulls the interesting rhythms and melodies he's known for. I will admit the vocals are nice.
Regardless of his music's content, ÆsirFest caused severe harm to thousands of people. Though the cause is unclear, it's fair that people feel resentment towards the artist.
@aviseapA4per That common name could be referring to the five petals and the showy nature of the flowers. Wild single-flowered roses can look similar to hibiscus.
At the risk of sounding like a curmudgeonly old man, there's just some things modern technology can't replace. The feeling of flipping through physical pages is one of them.
I don't eat instant noodles often, but I like the dry stir-fried ones. It's easy to add your own modifications to those as well, like a fried egg, onions, or vegetables. The Buldak stir fry is quite nice.
Celosia doesn’t naturally grow in this form. The wrinkled state is due to selective breeding for a natural mutation affecting growth tips, called “fasciation.” It can be observed in many plants, including common garden plants like daisies and dandelions, and affects shoot and root tips.
It’s also called “cresting” in horticultural circles (like crested Echeveria, for example). Coxcomb is just an extreme example where the crested form has overshadowed its natural state. In fact, at times Celosia can revert to its unfasciated form, where it looks much more mundane.
Like Will said, 4 friends is better than none. School is brutal and you do whatever you can to make it through. iM is a good refuge, there's kind people here.

@ramtabootino Your meal looked fine. I just don’t want to eat that.
@ramtabootino @slaughteredvomitdollSyd Tagged my original post. Thank you Tino for the suggestion.

Don’t they say that salt enhances sweet flavors? A concept for an electrolyte drink.
@slaughteredvomitdollSyd @ramtabootino Let’s be mature.
@slaughteredvomitdollSyd I did find it interesting. Very thoughtful of you.
@slaughteredvomitdollSyd No.
最后还好吃吗?
It’s always good to start cooking for yourself. Gives you more freedom.
That does look good. The sesame helps quite a bit in presentation.
The angle is worse than before. And why only ever one slice?
@slaughteredvomitdollSyd 1. Find a better passion. 2. I guess I can understand that… but isn’t this a full meal for you?
It basically looks uncooked. At least there’s two slices now.
Perhaps learning to make omurice would improve this.
Welcome back. I missed your contributions.

[OOC] My favorite Cherry song is 我不是. It’s different but I love it.
我明天晚上去试一试吧。 Maybe I’ll try it tomorrow night.
@slaughteredvomitdollSyd Separating the whites could give the whole thing structure. Like a spinach soufflé.
It looks beautiful. Frozen berries are very useful. 很好看。冷冻浆果很好用
@slaughteredvomitdollSyd I don’t think attractiveness is the most reliable indicator of mental health.
Maintaining good sleep discipline is hard. Something different works for everyone; I like waking up at the same time every day.

@ramtabootino Some may be toxic, though I’m not sure which. Why don’t you try and find out?
@slaughteredvomitdollSyd Why do you keep attacking my appearance? You don’t know anything about how I look.
@ramtabootino @slaughteredvomitdollSyd Apologies. I’ll choose my words more carefully next time.
@slaughteredvomitdollSyd Never mind. Keep saying whatever you want, it doesn’t matter to me.

Wow, congratulations. It actually looks like it could be edible for once. Why are there two different types of bread?
[OOC] [sticker:syd/vanessa_love]
Occasionally.
It's nice to meet you.
@marlostCAIN With the hold ARC has on the world you would think they’d put some money into reducing day-to-day suffering.
Get the rest you need.
Welcome back.
Interesting song. It’s repetitive and lacks significant progression, but the synths create a nice soundscape. Fun title, too. The name of a beautiful old garden hybrid rose.
I wouldn’t mind a tag.
I’ve heard that in ancient times, carnations were symbols of revolution.
@aviseapA4per I prefer knowing things are going to get somewhere, but I suppose that’s what variety in music is for.
Yes, that tag would work. Thank you for sharing music.
This is a Drums song I particularly like. I enjoy the complex rhythms and soundscape. It seems to take inspiration from cool jazz, like Zakusyo's Food and Musik 2.

[OOC] i think with her horns and hoodie the silhouette is interesting enough not to be too weird, especially if she’s chibified!
Congratulations. It even looks fully cooked.
It's difficult to accept the idea that these kinds of things can change. How did you manage it?
@marlostCAIN Thank you for the response.
Zakusyo this time. I like his more experimental work, like Inane. This sound is too pop-y and dulls the interesting rhythms and melodies he's known for. I will admit the vocals are nice.
I’m afraid of dying. You’d be stupid not to be.
Regardless of his music's content, ÆsirFest caused severe harm to thousands of people. Though the cause is unclear, it's fair that people feel resentment towards the artist.
You’re getting better at making it, at least. Have you ever tried using different toppings? Chili flakes, maybe.
I'd like to try the version with sweet coconut sticky rice... though I don't know if I'd be able to finish the whole thing
Have you been getting enough rest? It looks stranger than usual.
Beautiful. It's nice that the moon is always visible, even when the stars are not.
Not bad at all. You have a wonderful voice.
That's understandable. Recently, things have been weighing more heavily on me as well. I wonder if it will just take time.
...
[OOC] LMAOOO this is amazing I love your art. I think everyone on iM should try on maid dresses
Isn't it a bit weird to draw a real life person in a maid dress?
The eggs look oddly wet. At least you added some black pepper.
Why is the image blurry this time? At least your last picture was well-lit and in focus.
Good luck.
Small...
It's cooled off for me as well, though I still haven't been finding the motivation to leave the house. I hope you've been well.
Stay safe. I have relatives experiencing the monsoons as well, it's scary.
@aviseapA4per That common name could be referring to the five petals and the showy nature of the flowers. Wild single-flowered roses can look similar to hibiscus.
Good luck on your work. Try to get enough rest.
I get the feeling of nostalgia as well. Musically speaking, it's a bit repetitive, but I think that serves to add to that impression.
At the risk of sounding like a curmudgeonly old man, there's just some things modern technology can't replace. The feeling of flipping through physical pages is one of them.

I believe that's a fruit tart. Looks delicious.
Welcome. I've heard of the "piano," it's amazing that it was entirely mechanical.
Congratulations, it looks appetizing. Though it's a missed opportunity to use four square slices of bread for the square of four days.
Hello, welcome.
Congratulations. It almost feels endless.
Looks fine.
Movie was no good?
Do you two know each other?
The stars are always a nice sight.
