Morning glory (Who are naming these plants?)5 days ago

Hello everyone in iM I hope you all are having a nice year as of typing this it's currently morning so a perfect flower to return doing these is the morning glory flower, anyways let's start with the facts and meanings :) ----------------------------------------------------- It is an herbaceous annual or perennial twining liana growing to 2–4 m (7–13 ft) tall. The leaves are spirally arranged, 3–7 cm (1–3 in) long with a 1.5–6 cm (1⁄2–2+1⁄2 in) long petiole. The flowers are trumpet-shaped, 4–9 cm (2–4 in) in diameter, most commonly blue with a white to golden yellow centre.

The morning glory does not tolerate temperatures below 5 °C (41 °F), and so in temperate regions is usually grown as an annual. It is in any case a relatively short-lived plant. It prefers a warm, sheltered, sunny position such as a south- or west-facing wall. ----------------------------------------------------- The morning glory could mean either one of these: Unrequited love Mortality of life Love that is in vain Restricted love (in certain nodes) ----------------------------------------------------- Some old folklore about this flower symbolizes that lovers may only meet on one special day out of the year. The story behind this is that two young people fell deeply in love neglecting all of their responsibilities. As more and more chores were ignored the heavens started to rumble with the gods dissatisfaction. So, they decreed that the lovers could meet just one day out of the year. (That sounds miserable I hope nobody experiences it ).

Morning glories also mean unrequited love. They can be found in old literature and on and apparently gravestones in the past to signify a love that never ended. (This a much better meaning then the earlier one).

While a religion believes that it's related directly to the finite nature of life on earth, each single flower representing one life and life being represented by the daylight hours of the sun, withering and finally dying by nightfall. ----------------------------------------------------- The color meaning will be short then usual Red - Strong heart.
